The first thing you can do is invest in a sleeve for your cables. A cable sleeve, whether made from plastic or metal, allows for a secondary layer of protection for your electrical wiring. A metal sleeve is going to be even better in this instance because a nail or screw likely won’t penetrate it.

Another thing you can do is install a metal plate on your wall stud. Do this on the inner side of your lumber so that your electrical wires are completely protected from screws, nails, and the like. Protecting your wires in this way can help ensure that you don’t make a fatal mistake and damage the delicate electrical work in your space.
